Description

Breath live into your desert worlds with this Egyptian-themed Map Tiles collection of adventure map-building art assets. Create structures of sandstone blocks decorated with hieroglyph markings, combined with a complementary set of wooden flooring art assets for those upper levels.

What is a Map Tile?

A map tile is an art asset that depicts a 5ft square area of terrain from an overhead view. This means each map tile art asset can be employed to create roleplaying adventure maps for game systems such as Dungeons & Dragons, Pathfinder, Savage Worlds, Gurps, or any roleplaying system that uses a 5ft square map grid for adventure maps.

Each map tile is a combination of photographic source material and hand-drawn artwork, resulting in a unique look and feel for our art assets. Each asset is rendered to a 3:1 scale, that being 3 on-screen pixels to each real-world inch. This gives us a map grid square of 180 pixels. This results in adventure maps that have a good level of detail, while not being too pixel heavy as to lag older computers or users with slow connection speeds.

The 3:1 scale is also employed in the creation of our virtual tabletop tokens, meaning the character tokens fit perfectly to the scale of our adventure maps created with our range of map tiles. Thus you can use one of our Props and Objects Token packs as art assets to populate your Egyptian Dungeon maps with furniture.

This package of art assets has been created for the express purpose of designing Egyptian-themed structures for virtual tabletop adventure maps. Contained within this package you will find the following art assets:

The primary art elements within this package are the Sandstone theme assets that can be found in the Sandstone Walls and Sandstone Walls folders.

  • Sandstone Floor – Contains 74 assets for building sandstone block floors. 25 tiles are 1×1 for floor creation, with 1×2, 2×1, and 2×2 for larger areas. There are also assets for pit traps and floor blocks with hieroglyphic markings.
  • Sandstone Floor / Spiral Steps – Contains 20 assets for creating spiral 5ft wide or 10ft wide staircases.
  • Sandstone Floor / Steps – Contains 100 assets for the creation of standard square staircases of various number of step levels.
  • Sandstone Walls – Includes 156 standard wall art assets, with the following main themes: Smooth, Glyphs, and Blocks.
  • Sandstone Walls / Cornerstones and Doorways – Contains 40 elements for wall corners and quickly adding wall doorways.
  • Sandstone Walls / Curved Walls – 5ft – Contains 40 elements for building 5ft curved walls with walls adhering to the three main themes above.
  • Sandstone Walls / Curved Walls – 10ft – Same as the 5ft curved walls but with a 10ft curve.
  • Sandstone Walls / Dead Ends – Contains 16 elements that can be used as dead ends for passageways. Includes the three main texture options.
  • Sandstone Walls / Diagonal Walls – Contains 76 elements for adding diagonal walls to a dungeon layout, using the three main texture themes for the art assets.
  • Sandstone Walls / Passageways – Contains 64 assets for speed-building passageways (a wall on either side of a 1×1 grid square), using the three main theme textures.
  • Sandstone Walls / Window Overlays – Includes 8 window overlays to be placed over wall sections to create window openings.
  • Sandstone Columns – Within this folder are 12 assets for placing different types of Sandstone Columns around your adventure maps. Plus four assets of a column co-joining a wall.
  • Door Overlays – This folder contains 24 assets for adding doors to a Sandstone adventure map. Each door design (A, B, C, D, and E) includes the door at 20-degree open increments. The majority are designed for a 1x doorway opening, but designs C and D are designed for a 2x doorway opening.

Wooden Floor Elements

Complementing the Sandstone elements is a floor texture set meant for creating the upper levels of large stone buildings that would have been made of wood. These thick wooden planks are bolted onto the beams that support them with chunky iron bolts.

  • Wooden Floor – Contains 39 assets for creating wooden floors. The majority are 1×1 tiles which includes 6 trapdoor theme assets and 4 2×2 assets.
  • Spiral Staircase – This folder contains 24 assets for creating wooden spiral staircases (5ft and 10ft wide). There are also 4 assets to be placed upon standard wooden floor tiles to give them a “cut” edge over staircase ends, along with tiles to represent the “middle” step in a spiral staircase.
  • Steps – This folder contains 98 assets to create standard square sections of steps of various levels. Six assets are for adding the “cut” ends to overlay standard wooden floor tile sections.
