🪄 WOB: SpellCasting Automation – (FGU 5E 2025 Ruleset) 🪄
Formally: WOB: CastButton Automation
Stop clicking Cast… then Attack… then Damage… then Effects…
Stop forgetting “half on save” damage.
Stop rolling every element of Chromatic Orb by accident.
Click: use power, and everything will trigger automatically
Attack/Hit --- Apply Effect (if any) --- Damage rolled
Save/Failed --- Apply Effect (if any) --- Damage rolled
WOB: SpellCasting Automation turns your Actions tab into what it should’ve been:
Press Cast and the spell resolves like a real spell.
âś… What This Extension Does
Attack Spells (Fire Bolt, Chill Touch, etc.)

Press Use Power Button

Target gets the Attack roll

If it HITS or CRITS, the extension automatically rolls the spell’s Damage action(s) against the same target

Then applies any optional effects you set (see SPELL EFFECTs below)
Save Spells (Burning Hands, Sacred Flame, etc.)

Press Use Power Button

Target makes the Save
-
If the target FAILS, the extension rolls the spell’s Damage action(s)

If the target SUCCEEDS, damage only rolls when the spell is marked [HALF ON SAVE]

Then applies any optional effects you set (Prone / UNHEALABLE)
Toll the Dead Support (See special notes below)

Automatically rolls d8 if the target has 0 wounds

Automatically rolls d12 if the target has any wounds
Upcast Feature
You can also use the Upcast box to automate higher-level spell slot casting. Simply enter the spell slot level you want to use, and the extension will handle the upcast automatically for supported spells. This allows the spell to resolve using the selected slot level without needing to manually adjust the damage, healing, or other scaling effects yourself.
No rule lookups. No rewinds. No cleanup.
Toll the Dead
Regarding Toll the Dead, if you want to use the Use Power button, you’ll need to remove the d12 from the roll. When you use the Use Power button, it will automatically select the character’s tier level to add the appropriate extra dice, and it will also detect whether the target is wounded in order to apply the correct die roll.
Multiple Damage Type Spell
For spells like Chromatic Orb and Prismatic Spray, which have multiple damage types, the Use Power button does not currently support them. The same applies to any spell that has multiple damage types or combines different functions, such as a healing effect and a damage effect in the same spell. Those spells will need to be cast normally using the Cast button.

You can add effects directly inside a spell/power by adding Effect actions on the spell.

Use standard Fantasy Grounds effect text only.

Updates:
The Use Power Button can cast spells now, and the cast button works as normal!
Cantrip damage scales based on character level now ( Lvl 1-4 | Lvl 5-10 | Lvl 11-16 | Lvl 17+ ).
Fixes:
Healing dice now adds 2 dice per upcast!
Cantrip scaling detection was updated so the script no longer treats every level 0 power as a cantrip. It now only applies cantrip scaling when a power is level 0 and has a valid school filled in. This helps prevent custom level 0 abilities from being scaled by mistake while still allowing real cantrips to scale normally. Note: if an entry is not a cantrip or a leveled spell, do not add text to the school field.
Fixed an issue where some spells using the Cast or Use Power button could roll extra damage options that were not supposed to trigger automatically.
This mainly affected spells with multiple built-in damage choices or damage amounts, such as spells that list several possible damage lines. Now the button only follows the correct automatic spell flow instead of running every damage option at once.
Fixed: Eldritch Blast no longer uses the normal cantrip damage scaling, preventing it from gaining extra damage the wrong way.
