WOB: Now You See Me Now You Dont - 2025

Stop forgetting who can bypass Invisible in your 5E Fantasy Grounds game.

WOB: Now You See Me Now You Dont is a focused Fantasy Grounds Unity 5E extension that automates one specific combat rule: if a target has the Invisible effect, the extension checks whether the attacker has Blindsight, Truesight, Tremorsense, or See Invisible. If so, and if range applies and the target is within that range, the attacker does not suffer disadvantage from Invisible.

This extension was made to solve a common table problem. In the middle of combat, it is easy for a GM or player to forget that a creature has a sense or effect that should bypass Invisible. That often leads to attacks being rolled with disadvantage when they should have been rolled normally. This extension handles that check automatically so the rule does not get missed.

๐Ÿ‘ What This Extension Does

When an attack is made against a target with the Invisible effect, the extension checks the attacker for a valid bypass source: Blindsight, Truesight, Tremorsense, or See Invisible. If a valid bypass is found, the disadvantage from Invisible is ignored and the attack rolls normally. If the target does not have the Invisible effect, the extension does nothing.

The extension also prints a chat message showing why the bypass happened, making it clear to the table that Invisible was ignored because the attacker had the correct sense or effect.

โš™ Key Features

Invisible-only automation
Built specifically to handle attacks against targets with the Invisible effect.

Automatic bypass detection
Checks for Blindsight, Truesight, Tremorsense, and See Invisible.

Range-aware handling
Uses distance checks for senses where range matters.

Clear chat output
Prints a message explaining why the invisibility bypass happened.

Works for PCs and NPCs
Useful for monsters, enemies, and player characters alike.

Cleaner combat flow
Reduces forgotten rules and after-the-roll corrections.

๐ŸŽฏ How It Works

The extension checks the target first. If the target does not have Invisible, nothing happens. If the target does have Invisible, the extension checks the attacker for a supported bypass source. If the attacker qualifies, the invisibility disadvantage is bypassed and the attack rolls normally. A chat message is then printed to explain why.

๐Ÿ“ Range Handling

Blindsight, Truesight, and Tremorsense use range-sensitive checks. If the target is within range, Invisible is bypassed. If the target is outside that range, it is not. See Invisible is also supported as a valid bypass source for the Invisible effect.

โš  Known Limitation

Tremorsense does not currently account for elevation. If a target is flying, hovering, or otherwise not grounded, Tremorsense may still count that target if it is within range. In those cases, GM judgment is still needed.

โœ… Small How To Use

Just play as normal in Fantasy Grounds Unity 5E. If a target has the Invisible effect and the attacker has Blindsight, Truesight, Tremorsense, or See Invisible, the extension handles the invisibility bypass automatically.

The result is simple: fewer missed reminders, fewer corrected rolls, and cleaner combat flow.

Compatibility Notice

We cannot guarantee this extension will play nicely with every other extension. We test against a number of popular extensions, but conflicts can still happen. If you run into issues, try disabling other extensions to identify the conflict.

Updates:

Cloak of Displacement
Added automatic Cloak of Displacement support from inventory. If a Cloak of Displacement is equipped and attuned, the effect is added to the Combat Tracker automatically. If it is unequipped or no longer attuned, the effect is removed automatically.

CDisplacement
Added a new effect: CDisplacement. This works like a Cloak of Displacement. Attacks against the target have disadvantage, the effect turns off after the target takes damage, and it comes back at the start of the targetโ€™s next turn. Attackers with Blindsight, Truesight, or Tremorsense ignore the effect automatically.

Blur
Added a new effect: Blur. This works like the Blur spell. Attacks against the target have disadvantage while the effect is active. Attackers with Blindsight, Truesight, or Tremorsense ignore the effect automatically.

Displacement
Added a new effect: Displacement. This is mainly for creatures like the Displacer Beast, but it can also be used for items, potions, or other custom effects. Attacks against the target have disadvantage, the effect turns off after the target takes damage, and it comes back at the end of the targetโ€™s next turn. Attackers with Blindsight, Truesight, or Tremorsense ignore the effect automatically.

Bug Fix

Fixed an issue where CDisplacement and Displacement could incorrectly turn off when the target was healed. These effects now only disable from actual damage and no longer react to healing. Blur was not affected by this issue.
