Description

5E Table Tools is a Fantasy Grounds Unity extension for the 5E ruleset that improves the parts of combat that tend to slow a table down: spellcasting, upcasting, weapon attacks, ammunition, NPC resources, movement, targeting, and turn recovery.

It is designed to feel like part of Fantasy Grounds rather than a separate automation layer. The goal is to reduce repeated bookkeeping while keeping the GM and players in control when a spell, feature, or situation still needs a table decision.

Core Idea

Table Tools helps with common combat tasks such as:

  • Spending spell slots when spells are used.
  • Upcasting spells without manually adjusting every action.
  • Keeping cantrips scaled by character level.
  • Rolling weapon attacks and damage from one button.
  • Handling Weapon Mastery effects and follow-up attacks.
  • Managing special ammunition from equipped containers.
  • Tracking NPC spell slots, innate uses, recharge actions, and Legendary Resistance.
  • Creating helper actors for lair and legendary actions.
  • Tracking movement and optionally enforcing movement limits.
  • Quickly targeting or untargeting creatures.
  • Recovering from common turn mistakes with turn undo snapshots.

Features

  • Cleaner Actions tab with weapons and spell slots kept visible above the spell list.
  • Optional spell level jump buttons.
  • Upcast field and radial upcast support.
  • Automatic cantrip scaling.
  • Spell slot spending when spells are used.
  • Concentration cleanup when a new concentration spell is cast.
  • Delayed damage after attack or save results.
  • Dedicated Magic Missile handling.
  • Dedicated Eldritch Blast beam handling.
  • Weapon Auto Attack from the weapon row type icon.
  • Weapon Mastery support for Graze, Sap, Slow, Topple, Push, Vex, Nick, and Cleave.
  • Ammo Manager for arrows, bolts, bullets, and needles.
  • Magical ammunition bonuses to attack and damage.
  • Optional limitless or tracked mundane ammunition.
  • NPC prepared spell slot and innate casting tracking.
  • Recharge action handling.
  • Legendary Resistance prompts.
  • Lair and legendary action helper actors.
  • Movement tracking and optional movement limit enforcement.
  • Prone stand/stay handling.
  • Quick Target/Untarget radial actions.
  • Current-turn undo snapshots.

Ammo Manager

Ammo Manager can track magical ammunition while allowing mundane ammunition to be limitless, if that is how your table plays.

It looks for ammunition in equipped containers:

  • Arrows use quivers.
  • Bolts use cases or quivers.
  • Bullets and needles use pouches or cases.

Magical ammunition can apply its bonus to attack and damage, then be removed from inventory when fired.

Weapon Mastery

Weapon Mastery support includes automated or assisted handling for all mastery properties.

Nick and Cleave use visible weapon row buttons so the player chooses when to use those optional attacks. Table Tools handles validation, rolling, damage on hit, and once-per-turn tracking.

NPC Tools

NPC tools are built to keep the GM in the Combat Tracker.

Table Tools can track spell slots, innate uses, recharge actions, Legendary Resistance, lair action helpers, and legendary action helpers. These tools are meant to reduce missed resources during large encounters.

Options

The extension includes options for:

  • Spell info display.
  • Spell level jump buttons.
  • Extra helper chat notices.
  • Ammo Manager setup.
  • Mundane ammunition handling.
  • Movement tracking.
  • Movement enforcement.
  • NPC spell and innate casting tracking.
  • Legendary Resistance prompts.
  • Lair and legendary helper actors.
  • Weapon Mastery automation.
