Part of the Steadfast5E suite — a collection of free extensions designed to make D&D 5E play with more tension, resource pressure, and meaningful risk; closer to OSR sensibilities without abandoning the 5E ruleset.

This extension replaces the standard Proficiency Bonus progression with a slower, capped version:

At high levels, the standard 5E proficiency bonus reaches +6, which combined with Expertise and magic items can make many checks nearly automatic. This extension trims that ceiling, keeping bounded accuracy meaningful at all tiers of play.

What it affects: attack rolls, saving throws, skill checks, spell attack rolls, tool checks — anywhere the ruleset applies Proficiency Bonus automatically.

What it does not change: Expertise remains as written (double PB), so specialists still feel distinct. This extension is intentionally narrow — install it alongside other Steadfast5E extensions or use it standalone.

Compatibility: D&D 5E ruleset in Fantasy Grounds Unity. No known conflicts with other extensions.
