Description
Adds full native-style Subraces support to the official 3.5E (Dungeons & Dragons 3.5E) and PFRPG (Pathfinder 1E) rulesets in Fantasy Grounds Unity.
Key Features
- New Subraces section on every Race record (inserted above Traits).
- Ctrl-drag any Race onto the Subraces header to instantly copy it in as a new subrace (with its own Traits list) — same familiar workflow used by 2E.
- When applying a Race that has subraces to a character:
- Automatically selects the only subrace if there's just one.
- Prompts the user to choose if multiple exist (reuses CoreRPG's clean select dialog).
- Applies the chosen subrace's traits alongside the base race's traits.
- Character's Race field updates intelligently:
- "Mountain Dwarf" (if subrace name already includes base race).
- "Elf (Grey)" (appended in parentheses otherwise).
- Zero regression on stock behavior — base races apply exactly as before.
Why This Extension Exists
Stock 3.5E/PFRPG has no Subraces implementation at all (confirmed by direct source review of CharManager.addRace). This extension fills that gap cleanly using existing orphaned CoreRPG strings and record structures.
Technical Details (for power users)
- Purely additive — no core ruleset files are modified.
- Reuses the exact same ref_racial_trait row class and trait-application logic (CharManager.addRacialTrait) for subraces.
- Lightweight Lua wrapper around CharManager.addRace only.
- Fully compatible with your existing 3.5E/PFRPG campaigns and other extensions (including 35e-advdis / 35e-target20).
Perfect for campaigns using subraces from the SRD, homebrew books, or any setting that expands on core races (Dwarves, Elves, Gnomes, Halflings, Half-Elves, Half-Orcs, Humans, etc.).
Ready to bring proper subrace support to your 3.5E/PFRPG table!
