Description

Requires: The AD&D 1E Properties extension by celestian (also free on the FG Forge) is strongly recommended, although it is not required. (And if desiring to use this bestiary in conjunction with 2E AD&D modules purchased from the FG Store or Forge, it is recommended to unload the extension while playing that purchased content).

There has also been an OSRIC Ruleset recently uploaded by Doomsword which the content may be used with.  The content wasn't created under this ruleset so I can't claim at this time whether or not there would be any conflicts, but I presume there wouldn't be.

Monsters of Myth also draws upon OSRIC tables to detail/customize some monsters, although these aren't necessary to use the base NPC.  See the adapter's notes in the reference manual for more information.

Summary: The First Edition Society (FES) is pleased to present a Fantasy Grounds adaption of its bestiary Monsters of Myth (MOM).  This release builds upon the FG OSRIC content available to 1E GMs - new monsters to unleash on unsuspecting PCs!

MOM continues FG OSRIC's commitment to robust automation and random generation capabilities, easing the burden on harried GM's wanting to insert detailed NPCs into their session quickly and easily.  Many of these monsters have extensive customization possibilities, and chained tables to deliver this individualization are built into every NPC.  Much of this type of automation does draw upon (and depend upon) cross-links to tables in the FG OSRIC data modules.

Included in Monsters of Myth:

  • over 200 new NPCs penned by Matt Finch, Stuart Marshall (Papers and Paychecks), and others
  • dozens of NPCs authored by Stephen Marsh, co-author of the 1980 D&D Expert Set (including his "chaos taints" system)
  • several new FG items for use in your campaign, including new minor magic and treasure items
  • number appearing/in lair tables for each monster useful for quick-building random encounter tables
  • many tables constructed to prioritize speedy delivery of content over watching GUI dice roll in the chat box (player-facing tables excluded)
